Nail Clipping

Hands holding dog paw and clipping a nail

Walk-in nail clipping is available anytime. No appointment necessary.
If you would like your dog’s nails be clipped by a specific staff member, please call ahead.

When you come in for a self-service wash, we are happy to cut nails at the time of the wash without an extra appointment.

Clippers and Dremels

Short nails contribute greatly to the wellbeing of your dog, besides saving you or your floor from scratches. See Long toe nails are hard on your dog’s joints.

In order to achieve short, smooth nails, we will use both clippers and nail files (dremels) whenever possible.

We get on the floor with big dogs and put small dogs on a table that is enclosed from three sides. We try our best to make nail clipping as stressfree as possible, and are not afraid to use treats!

Harnesses

Another option for dogs that resist handling of their paws, as well as for dogs that are old and have joint issues is suspension in our hanging harnesses. This option is available for small as well as big dogs.

Clipping Policy

So far, we have successfully cut nails on dogs of many temperaments. No method suits all dogs, but we will try to find the one that works for your dog. Only if the experience threatens to be traumatic or the dog’s behavior endangers our staff, will we turn a dog away. Please see: Clipping nails on unruly dogs.
