Nail Clipping

Short nails contribute greatly to the wellbeing of your dog besides saving you or your floor from scratches. See Long toe nails are hard on your dog's joints.

We clip nails on a walk-in basis. If you would like your dog's nails be clipped by a specific staff member, please call ahead.

To achieve short, smooth nails, we will use both clippers and nail files (dremels) whenever possible.

We generally clip nails in the presence of the owners and with the owner's support (unless your dog was dropped off for grooming or deals better with nail clipping in the absence of the owner). We get on the floor with big dogs and put small dogs on a table that is enclosed from three sides. We try our best to make nail clipping as stressfree as possible. We are not afraid to use treats!

Another option for dogs that resist handling of the paws, as well as dogs that are old and have joint issues is suspension in our hanging harnesses. This option is available for small as well as big dogs.

So far, we have successfully cut nails on dogs of many temperaments. No method suits all dogs but we will try to find the one that works for your dog. Only if the experience threatens to be traumatic or the dog's behavior endangers our staff, will we turn a dog away.
